Often, the county government response has been, we want to go green, but we don have the money to do it. budget this year is no different; it is only more grim. However, with passage of the stimulus package, Prince George County has the opportunity to tap into its share of grants. [President] Obama set aside $3.2 billion to be used to reduce fossil fuel emissions, decrease total energy consumption, and retain and create green jobs. Based on population, Prince George County is eligible for over $6 million! Our county has pledged to green on multiple occasions it couldn be easier now. We urge the County Council and County Executive Jack Johnson to take advantage of this opportunity not only to reduce the county carbon footprint, but also to create green jobs. Apply for funding from the Department of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant before it too late!
